Deb Mun-Gavin

As a young girl, I had a dream about what my life would look like one day. I would grow up, marry my Prince Charming, start a family and find a job that allowed me three things: to do something I was passionate about; to bring light and love into the lives of others on a daily basis; and, to have a balance between being a mom and my career.

I often I have to pinch myself!  I feel like I am living my dream.

In my pursuit of making my dream come true, life has indeed been interesting!  As a commerce graduate, my career started in research at a Jozi consulting firm. I was recruited to the US to work for a website but when the ‘dot com’ boom bubble burst, I headed across to the UK, and worked for a multinational communications company in business analysis, market development and partner management. What a fantastic few years spent travelling the world! But something was still lacking. Life lacked fulfillment.  In my search for meaning, I gave up the corporate life and returned to SA to become a full time masters student at the age of 28!  I realized my dream of becoming a psychologist in 2006.

I moved to Durban in 2007 to be closer to my ‘Prince Charming”, and started up my own practice which was situated in Apple Tree House in Morningside. It was here that I was fortunate enough to meet an incredible bunch of individuals that never cease to inspire me…the associates of Apple tree continue to be important catalysts in my journey.

I currently run my practice from home in Durban North – counseling and coaching individuals and conducting psychometric assessments. I also run different workshops on playing to your strengths, refreshing relationships and effective parenting.

Over the years, my path has crossed with Apple Tree more and more. I have been amazed by the impact of ‘the Apple Tree way’ on bringing about significant and meaningful change in the lives of individuals and organizations – it is now my dream to share this with as many people as possible in the years to come!

I am inspired by individuals who wake up each morning choosing to be grateful and happy, no matter what their circumstances.

I am passionate about setting individuals free from what holds them back and about people living their dreams.

What I love most about my work is seeing positive life change in my clients.

What I love most about living in SA is its diversity, its colour, its beauty, its people.

I share my home with my gorgeous husband, Tony, our enchanting toddler, Mitch, his baby brother (I am pregnant again!) and the third party in our marriage – my husband’s dog, Polo!

I TRY to listen to that still small voice of calm within…

I love to read all kinds of books but at the moment the parenting ones top the pile!

I believe that the glory of God is man fully alive.
